Is there anything sweeter than a celebration of sugar? From vibrant parades to the lively sounds of Cajun music, the Louisiana Sugar Cane Festival and Fair, alongside other regional festivals, offers a unique blend of culture, community, and, of course, a whole lot of sugar-sweetened fun!
Mark your calendars! The Louisiana Sugar Cane Festival & Fair, a long-standing tradition in New Iberia, Louisiana, eagerly anticipates its 81st year, promising a weekend brimming with festivities. The last full weekend of September, specifically Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, will transform Main Street in New Iberia into a hub of activity. The Royalty Parade, a highlight of the festival, will roll down Main Street on Sunday, September 29, 2024, at 12:00 pm. For those seeking information on how to participate in the children's parade or the royalty parade, forms are available for download, with the parade scheduled for September 28 and 29, 2024. The festival officially kicks off on Friday, September 27, marking the commencement of the sugar cane season with the traditional Blessing of the Crop at 10 a.m.
Beyond the Louisiana Sugar Cane Festival, the spirit of celebration extends to other communities. The Clewiston Sugar Festival, a community-driven event, welcomes folks to enjoy free live music performances, an antique tractor display, a car show, a kids' play park, and a professional baking display. Similarly, the West Baton Rouge Museum's Sugarfest, a sweet celebration of the sugarcane harvest, will be held on Sunday, October 6, 2024, from 11 am to 4 pm, providing visitors of all ages with a free opportunity to learn about local culture, music, and history.
